Robertson, Timothy Wren DSM
Date of Death: 4 November 2023
WGCDR Timothy Wren Robertson DSM was among the three people that were killed in a civilian aircraft crash near Cloncurry in QLD on Sat 04 Nov 23.
Tim undertook aircrew specialist and pilot training in 1988 with the RAAF, subsequently flying F/A-18 Hornets, among other airframes.
In 1998, he successfully completed SAS Selection course and this would be the start of a long involvement with Special Operations for the remainder of his life. He also maintained his connections and career with the RAAF throughout.
His first appointment in the Regiment was as the Troop Commander of E Tp, 2 SAS Sqn, for the Sydney 2000 Olympics.
He also served with UK Special Boat Service on exchange during the 2003 Iraq invasion, during which he was involved in some fierce engagements with Iraq’s Special Republican Guard.
A talented man of many skills - fighter pilot, forward air controller, SAS Officer, military diver, contractor, musician (player of both piano and saxophone to name a couple), surfer (loosely) with flying being the one constant through his varied career.
He saw operational service on Operations TREK, GOLD, SLIPPER and FALCONER. His current honours and awards are:

• Iraq campaign medal
• Afghanistan campaign medal
• Defence Long Service Medal
• Australian Defence Medal
• Meritorious unit Citation 10 (OP SLIPPER)
• Returned from Active Service badge
