Greg Fry was born in Western Australia on 17 April 1957. He enlisted in the Army on 9 February 1976 and was allocated to the Royal Australian Signals. He underwent SAS selection in 1977 and was posted to 152 Signals Squadron on 18 April 1977. Greg came from the School of Signals with the rank of Signaller. Greg was declared missing presumed killed following an aircraft crash in the Philippines on 26 February 1981. He was aboard a United States special warfare Hercules when it crashed soon after taking off from the Subic Bay naval base. Greg’s next-of-kin at the time of his death was his mother.
