TALKING POINTS OFFICIAL Defence Force Retirement and Death Benefits (DFRDB) scheme
Background
Ms Del Gaudry and Mr John Lewis on behalf of the Defence Force Welfare Association
(DFWA) have provided a submission to the 25 March 2025 Ex-Service Organisation Round
Table (ESORT). Their submission concerns the Defence Force Retirement and Death Benefits
(DFRDB) scheme.
A number of veterans groups, as well as individual veterans, continue to campaign on three
matters relating to the DFRDB scheme:
misleading information regarding the effect of commutation on retirement pensions,
indexation methodology,
and the use of set life expectancy.
