Trevor Irwin was born in Victoria on 13 May 1947. He enlisted in the Army on 16 January 1967 and was allocated to the Royal Australian Infantry. He underwent SAS selection in 1967 and was posted to SASR on 6 October 1967. Trevor came from the Infantry Centre with the rank of Private on posting to SASR. Trevor was drowned in the Collie River Western Australia on 14 June 1968 while attempting a river crossing during the inaugural Patrol Course. Trevor’s next-of-kin at the time of his death was his father.
